One afternoon in April, a hall filled with neighbours. Every one of them will be welcomed.

The concert at the Brilliant Cultural Centre comes to life through the people who make it possible: welcoming at the door, helping in the hall, preparing the space, and taking care of the countless little things no audience ever sees.

Three hundred people, two choirs, two gospel bands, no ticket

Last April roughly three hundred people came to the Brilliant Cultural Centre near Castlegar for an afternoon of music, with refreshments for everyone, and nobody paid to get in. It returns Saturday, April 10, 2027. Two people in their seventies organise it, and they pay for most of it themselves. What they cannot do is be at the door and in the hall at once.

Where help is needed

Here is what the day needs, and you can be part of it.

Pick one, and say roughly when you can be there. Nothing else is needed.

At the door Welcome people as they arrive, hand out the programme, and help them find a seat. I can do this In the hall Set up chairs and benches before the concert, reset the room between sets, and put everything away afterward. I can do this Refreshments Set out the snacks and drinks for volunteers and performers, keep the table welcoming and replenished, and help with the cleanup afterward. I can do this Parking Help hundreds of guests arrive and depart with ease, guiding cars to available spaces and keeping traffic flowing. I can do this Spreading the word Help us let people know. Put up posters and share the invitation wherever people gather. I can do this Music in seniors' homes Musicians and singers who would like to bring live music to a seniors' residence. Tell me more
