His work has been influential in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology, and religious studies.

St-John of the Cross
St. John of the Cross was a 16th century Spanish Carmelite friar, mystic, poet, and major figure in the Counter-Reformation, known for co-founding the Discalced Carmelites with St. Teresa of Ávila, and for his profound spiritual writings like The Dark Night of the Soul, exploring the soul’s journey to union with God through suffering and detachment, earning him the title “Doctor of the Church.”
St-Julian of Norwich
English anchoress of the Middle Ages. Her writings, now known as Revelations of Divine Love, are the earliest surviving English-language works attributed to a woman.
St-Teresa of Ávila
16th century Spanish Carmelite nun, mystic, author, and founder of the Discalced Carmelite Order. Her most famous work, The Interior Castle, describes the soul’s journey to union with God.
Ste-Thérèse de Lisieux
Celebrated by UNESCO as a “figure of peace” in 2023, Thérèse de Lisieux, a 19th century French nun known as “The Little Flower of Jesus.” She has been a highly influential model of sanctity, thanks to the simplicity and practicality of her approach to the spiritual life. She is one of the most popular saints in the history of the Catholic church, although she was obscure during her lifetime. Pope Pius X called her “the greatest saint of modern times.”
Eckhart Tolle
German-born, Canadian-based spiritual teacher and self-help author. His books include The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, and A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.
